The
Dial Painters
Poems by John Barr. 1994 [issued 1996].
For more than thirty years John Barr has pursued
parallel careers as poet and banker. His first book, The War Zone,
published in 1989 by Warwick Press, deals with his experiences as
a naval officer in the Vietnam War. His second, Natural Wonders,
published in 1991 by Warwick, explores the boundaries of what is
human with all that is not, and finds things never to be as they
seem.
“With a generous play of line and vocabulary,
and with characteristic generosity of spirit, Barr becomes our elegist
for those who are caught in their own times.”
